At least seven people died on the spot when a passenger jeep met with an accident in Belaka Municipality of Udayapur district on Thursday.
Police said the jeep en route to Bhojpur from Dharan fell some 200 metres down the road causing the fatalities.
Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Khadga Bahadur Shrestha of Hasanpur Area Police Office said seven injured passengers were sent for treatment.
He said rescuers are attempting to pull out the dead bodies from the crash site.
