Indian national arrested with fake Nepali banknotes

Police on Monday paraded an Indian national arrested with a huge cache of counterfeit Nepali currency notes.
Superintendent of Police Bipin Regmi at Sunsari District Police Office said the arrestee is 22-year-old Mohammad Saiyad alias Chhotu, a resident of the Indian state of Bihar.
Saiyad was arrested on Sunday morning with Rs18.2 million fake notes in the denomination of 1,000. The Indian national carried the notes in a jeep and was apprehended during a security check near Sunsari river bridge in Inaruwa Municipality-4.
Regmi said the vehicle with an Indian registration number was heading east after entering Nepal through the Bhantabari border point and had a permit for travel to Nepal that was valid till Monday.
Police said Saiyad was remanded to a six-day judicial custody, adding that an investigation is underway.
