Province 1 government gears up to recruit employees

The Province 1 government has started necessary preparations to recruit employees in a bid to resolve the long-standing problem of employee shortage in government offices in the province.
The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday decided to appoint employees at the Ministry of Land Management and Agriculture Cooperatives to mitigate the problem by mobilising budget for the purpose.
The Cabinet approved working guidelines regarding the posts of agriculture officer, technical assistant and sub-technical assistant. With the approval of the working guidelines, the ministry can now hire employees on its own.
Province’s Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Hikmat Kumar Karki, who is also the government spokesperson, said the cabinet meeting approved the guidelines to appoint employees on a contract basis.
The cabinet also decided to authorise the Office of the Chief Minister to transfer and mobilise ninth- and tenth-level employees.
Similarly, the cabinet meeting approved a bill on management of proposed Manmohan Technical University. The provincial government allocated a budget of Rs165 million to set up a technical university in the current fiscal year.
An additional Rs50 million was allocated to establish colleges in Taplejung, Panchthar, Tehrathum, Sankhuwasabha and Solukhumbu districts. These colleges are to be affiliated to the proposed technical university.
According to Minister Karki, the cabinet also decided to present the annual reports of the auditor general in the centre and Office of Chief Attorney of Province 1 in the upcoming provincial assembly meeting. These are the reports of the last fiscal year 2018/19.
