The secretariat meeting of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) on Sunday recommended the names of 57 lawmakers under the proportional representation (PR) category.
However, the party has not disclosed the names of the candidates included in the list submitted to the Election Commission (EC).
“The commission will verify the list and complete the certification process. The commission will then make the names public,” said party spokesperson Manish Jha. “Politically and legally, these will remain only proposed names from our side until the commission verifies them.”
In the general elections held on March 5, the RSP secured 125 seats under the first-past-the-post system and 57 seats under the proportional representation category.
According to the party, the proposed PR list has been distributed across clusters as follows: 17 from the Khas Arya group, 16 from Adivasi Janajati communities, nine from Madhesi communities, eight from Dalits, four from the Tharu community, and three from the Muslim community.
RSP chair Rabi Lamichhane was not physically present at the meeting. Party leaders said he joined the discussion virtually as he is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Meanwhile, the Shram Sanskriti Party has also finalised the names of four lawmakers under the PR category. Party spokesperson Satya Ghale said a central committee meeting held in Dharan on Sunday endorsed the names and decided to forward them to the apex electoral body for verification.
The party has nominated Purna Limbu of Sunsari from the Adivasi Janajati cluster, Rubi Kumari Thakur of Dhanusha from the Madhesi cluster, Ambika Devi Sangraula of Sunsari from the Khas Arya cluster, and Radhika Ramtel (Sarki) of Surkhet from the Dalit cluster.
