Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) central committee member Arnico Panday has withdrawn his name from the party’s proportional representation candidate list. He announced his decision through a Facebook post on Monday.
Panday said he informed colleagues of his decision during a central committee meeting on Sunday night, citing recent political developments as the reason for no longer seeing the justification to remain on the list.
On Facebook, he wrote, “I always try to choose the path through which I can contribute to the country and society. Given the current political situation, I saw no justification to remain on the proportional list, and I informed my colleagues of my decision during last night’s central committee meeting.”
He thanked the party leadership for including him on the list and reaffirmed his commitment to actively support RSP in the upcoming elections.
Pandey is the sixth person to withdraw name from RSP’s proportional list. Others include activist Mahendra Lawoti, actor Asif Shah, singer Trishala Gurung, entrepreneur Sachin Dhakal, and mountaineer Tashi Sherpa.
