Oli and Lekhak to remain in custody for five more days
Police secure extended custody to continue probe into Gen Z protests as investigation progresses.Post Report
The Kathmandu District Court has granted police an additional five days to keep former prime minister KP Sharma Oli and former home minister Ramesh Lekhak in custody for investigation.
The extension was approved after investigators sought more time following the expiry of the previous remand period, according to court officials.
Oli and Lekhak were arrested on March 28 based on the findings of a commission led by former Special Court chair Gauri Bahadur Karki. The panel had been formed to investigate the Gen Z-led protests and related incidents.
Police said further questioning and evidence collection were necessary, prompting the request for an extended remand.
The court’s decision allows investigators to continue their probe into the case involving the two senior political leaders.
