Iran has detained a Nepali national from the Strait of Hormuz, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, the ministry has yet to disclose the individual’s identity.
“Iran has taken one Nepali into custody from the Strait of Hormuz,” said Ramkaji Khadka, chief of the Central Asia, West Asia and Africa Division at the Ministry, at a press meet on Friday.
The Strait of Hormuz lies in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. Authorities have not provided detailed information on the reason for the arrest. Iran maintains de facto control over the area.
