RSP chief Lamichhane’s election expenses stand at nearly Rs 1 million
Lamichhane submits polls spending details to ECPost Report
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chairperson Rabi Lamichhane has reported expenses of approximately Rs 1 million for the March 5 House of Representatives polls.
Lamichhane submitted the polls expenditure details to the Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday.
Of the expenses standing at Rs 989,987 in total, Rs 10,000 was spent on the nomination registration, Rs 68,161 on printing sample ballot papers, and Rs 295,000 on transportation and fuel during the campaign.
Similarly, Rs 14,200 was spent on snacks during electoral training programmes while Rs 167,000 was used for publicity.
Food expenses amounted to Rs 196,000 while Rs 13,626 was used for air travel. Lamichhane won the parliament seat from Chitwan-2 in the ongoing House of Representatives elections.
Candidates participating in elections must submit their poll expense details within 35 days from the date final results are officially announced. The candidates under the first-past-the-post system are required to submit the details of election expenditures at the concerned district election office and the office of the election officer.
Under the proportional representation (PR) category, candidates have to submit election expenditures at the office of the Proportional Election Officer.
Political parties or candidates failing to make poll expenditure details public or submit them on time are subject to punishment as per the law.
Since the PR vote counting is nearing completion, the final results are expected between March 10-12. Therefore, candidates will have to disclose their election expenditures by mid-April, 2026.
