The commission formed to probe the killings and damages of the Gen Z movement of September 8 and 9 is set to submit its report to the government on Sunday.
An official at the commission said that commission members held a meeting at their Singh Durbar-based office on Saturday for a final discussion on the findings.
“Although the writing is finished, we are currently cross-checking and verifying the details. We aim to complete everything today,” the official said. “We have requested a time slot from the prime minister and will submit it as soon as he is available.”
The government formed the commission on September 21 under the leadership of Gauri Bahadur Karki, former chairperson of the Special Court. The commission includes former Additional Inspector General of Police Bigyan Raj Sharma and legal expert Bishweswor Bhandari as members.
The commission had initially prepared to submit the report before the March 5 elections. However, the government extended the deadline, assessing potential risks during the election period.
Originally formed with a three-month mandate, the commission's term was extended multiple times.
Since the latest extension expires this Sunday, officials claim they are prepared to submit it before the deadline.
