President Paudel urges CIAA to investigate corruption without pressure
Stresses the importance of good governance and transparency on the 35th anniversary of the anti-corruption body.Post Report
President Ramchandra Paudel has urged the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to conduct investigations and prosecutions free from pressure or influence.
Speaking at an event to mark the 35th anniversary of the constitutional anti-corruption body on Wednesday, he emphasised that the Gen Z movement was for good governance and should not be forgotten.
“Without transparency and good governance, democracy cannot reach people’s homes,” he said, calling on the commission to investigate all forms of corruption.
Paudel said public trust in the CIAA is vital for good governance and that the fight against corruption requires collective effort. He added that only strong political commitment, along with promoting integrity, ethics, impartiality, and transparency, can ensure good governance and curb corruption.
“I expect the commission will investigate corruption without yielding to pressure or influence, regardless of the status of the offenders,” he said.
