Customs clearance resumed on Wednesday after customs agents called off their countrywide protest.
The halt had begun on Tuesday when agents stopped work, saying several provisions in the Customs Act 2025 undermined their professional rights, made their work more difficult and created conditions that could hinder international trade.
The protest was withdrawn on Wednesday after talks between the Department of Customs and the Federation of Customs Agents ended positively. Clearance work restarted soon after the agreement.
Federation President Prachin Kumar Thaiba said in a statement that the protest was called off after the discussions addressed their concerns. He said the federation had informed all concerned about the withdrawal.
The customs department also issued a statement saying the dialogue had concluded positively. It said the agents’ demands would be addressed in phases. Issues that can be resolved administratively will be implemented gradually, while matters requiring changes to regulations will be forwarded to the Ministry of Finance.
The department said both sides agreed to continue coordination to prevent future disruptions in customs services.
