Kenya parliament honours honorary consul Chandra Tandan
Delegation led by Tandan receives a special welcome at the national assembly in Nairobi.Post Report
Kenya’s National Assembly has extended special recognition to Chandra Tandan, the honorary consul of Kenya to Nepal, and his delegation. The Speaker welcomed the team and said the move would help strengthen Nepal–Kenya bilateral ties.
The recognition follows the formal opening of Kenya’s consulate office in Nepal in June in the presence of the high commissioner. Officials in Nairobi described the acknowledgement as a public message that the country intends to utilise the consul’s role more actively to promote joint interests.
Tandan, who has long been associated with Nepal’s trade sector, was praised for helping advance bilateral cooperation. He has been involved in initiatives aimed at opening new market channels for Kenyan products in Nepal.
Known for his engagement in Nepal’s remittance sector, Tandan has also been working to provide consular support to a small but growing Kenyan community in Nepal. The recent acknowledgement was described as part of rising diplomatic engagements between Kathmandu and Nairobi.
