Four new ministers sworn in
Sinha, Pun, Pariyar and Kharel assume offices.

Four newly appointed ministers in the interim government led by Prime Minister Sushila Karki took the oath of office and secrecy before President Ramchandra Paudel during a ceremony at Sheetal Niwas, the President’s Office, on Monday.
Anil Kumar Sinha was sworn in as Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies. He will also oversee the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation.
Mahabir Pun became Minister for Education, Science and Technology, while Madan Prasad Pariyar took charge of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development. Journalist Jagdish Kharel was sworn in as Minister for Communication and Information Technology.
Sinha is a former Supreme Court justice, who retired from the top court in October, 2023.
Pun, the winner of the Roman Magsaysay Award, has long been active in the development of science and research in Nepal. He currently leads the National Innovation Centre.
Pariyar is a climate and agricultural expert. Pariyar serves as the president of Samata Foundation, a non-profit that works for social justice and inclusiveness. He previously coordinated the high-level state restructuring commission of the Constituent Assembly.
Although Prime Minister Karki reportedly forwarded the name of Sangeeta Mishra as the health minister, her name was withheld at the last moment. Mishra is an additional secretary at the health ministry.
Vice President Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Karki, Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, National Assembly Chairperson Narayana Prasad Dahal, heads of constitutional bodies, senior government officials and security chiefs were present.
Prime Minister Karki, appointed Nepal’s 42nd and first female prime minister on September 12 following the Gen Z uprising earlier this month, had earlier inducted Rameshore Khanal as finance minister, Kulman Ghising as minister for energy, water resources and irrigation as well as for physical infrastructure, transport and urban development, and Om Prakash Aryal as home minister.
The prime minister currently handles the remaining ministries. The interim government has been mainly tasked with holding elections for the House of Representatives on March 5, 2026.
