Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday held a meeting with Chen Xiaodong, chair of China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), at the prime minister’s residence in Baluwatar.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations, the four agreements signed on Monday at the Ministry of Finance, and the implementation status of previous cooperation commitments made during high-level visits between Nepal and China.
Prime Minister Oli reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to the ‘One China’ policy and highlighted the longstanding friendly ties between the two countries, said the prime minister’s secretariat.
He thanked China for prioritising the reconstruction of infrastructure at the Rasuwagadhi border point, which was destroyed in recent flash floods, and said Nepal had also taken prompt steps on its part.
He stressed the need to move forward with the operation of the Kimathanka and other border points, as well as the unhindered implementation of projects under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to help Nepal transition from a landlocked to a land-linked country.
Earlier on Monday, the Chinese delegation held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel regarding development partnership and ongoing and upcoming Chinese-supported projects. On the occasion, the two sides signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) for four projects.
