The Academia de la Diplomacia del Reino de España and The Diplomat Nepal by Ambassador’s Club have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Madrid to promote cultural diplomacy, global dialogue, and people-to-people ties.
The signing took place at the historic Instituto de Ingenieros de España and was attended by around 50 guests, including Nepal’s Ambassador to Spain Sanil Nepal, Indian Ambassador to Spain Dinesh Patnaik, United Nations World Tourism Organisation representatives, and diplomats.
The deal, signed by Santiago Velo de Antelo of the Spanish Academy and Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal of The Diplomat Nepal, outlines joint initiatives such as conferences, research, cultural exchanges, and training for young diplomats.
Dhakal said the partnership aims to amplify Nepal’s voice in global peace efforts, while Velo de Antelo stressed the importance of shared values and dialogue in a divided world.
The collaboration reflects a growing role of civil society in diplomacy and highlights Nepal’s ambition to become a centre for global reflection, said The Diplomat Nepal.
