Foreign Minister Deuba meets JICA President Tanaka in Tokyo
Talks focus on infrastructure, climate change, disaster management, and governance support.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Arzu Rana Deuba met with Akihiko Tanaka, president of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in Tokyo on Friday.
The meeting took place at JICA’s headquarters, where the two sides discussed various issues related to Nepal-Japan bilateral relations and areas of mutual interest, the foreign minister’s secretariat said.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Deuba expressed Nepal’s gratitude for the longstanding support extended by the Japanese government through JICA in Nepal’s economic and social development.
She appreciated JICA’s assistance under its basic cooperation policy with Nepal, particularly in areas such as economic growth, poverty alleviation, disaster risk reduction, climate change, and the strengthening of good governance and democracy.
Deuba also acknowledged Japan’s continued support in recent infrastructure initiatives, including the construction of the Nagdhunga tunnel, as well as the reconstruction and maintenance of the Sindhuli–Bardibas road, among others.
They also discussed broader themes, including Nepal-Japan relations, JICA’s assistance to Nepal, the impact of climate change, disaster management, good governance, and issues concerning senior citizens.
