Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan triggered by the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, the government of Nepal on Thursday has urged both nations to exercise restraint and prioritise regional stability.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government reiterated its firm opposition to terrorism “in all its forms and manifestations” and expressed solidarity with India during this time of grief.
“Nepal shall not allow any inimical forces to use its soil against its neighbouring countries,” the statement read, reinforcing the country’s stance on upholding peace and non-interference.
Calling for a peaceful resolution to the heightened tensions, the government highlighted the critical need for lasting stability and cooperation in South Asia, positioning itself as a supporter of diplomacy and regional harmony.
Nepal condemned the Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people including a Nepali national, and extended condolences to the victims and their families.
