Heavy rainfall early Thursday morning has caused havoc in Humla district, particularly affecting Wards 2 and 3 of Adanchuli Rural Municipality. Chief District Officer Narayan Pandey confirmed the damage, stating that landslides and flooding followed the intense downpour.

Pandey told the Post that it rained quite heavily this morning in Adanchuli-2 and 3. Preliminary reports indicate that some houses have been damaged. “We are still gathering detailed information,” he said.

Among the affected structures is a warehouse belonging to the Food Management and Trading Company Limited, situated between the two wards. Although some rice stocks were relocated to safer areas, sacks stored on lower shelves were soaked, he said.

Adanchuli Rural Municipality chair Mohan Bikram Singh reported that even the municipal office is at risk due to nearby landslides.

“Local residents have reported deaths of around 100 sheep and goats,” he said. “Several homes have been destroyed beyond habitability, and local shops have also suffered damage.” Singh added that while the rain has subsided for now, the area witnessed heavy downpour in the morning.
