The prohibitory order will remain in effect for two months.
Post Report
The Lalitpur District Administration has imposed a prohibitory order in the areas surrounding the Minister’s Residence at Pulchowk and Bhainsepati.
The order, which prohibits gatherings of five or more people for activities such as sit-ins, protests, rallies, or public meetings, came into effect on Sunday.
Lalitpur Chief District Officer Ramesh Dhakal, issued the directive on Sunday, in accordance with Section 6(3)(a) of the Local Administration Act, 2028.
The administration cited the potential risks of arson and assault at key locations such as the official residences of VIPs from the executive, legislature, and judiciary, as well as major administration centres.
Additionally, concerns over possible disruptions to service delivery were also highlighted as reasons for the prohibitory order.
The restriction applies to the old Ministerial Residence area in Pulchowk, near the UN House, as well as the new Ministerial Residence area in Bhainsepati.
The prohibitory order will remain in effect for two months.
