Kantipur Publications celebrated its 32nd anniversary on Monday with a special event in Kathmandu while reflecting on the evolving challenges of media in the digital era.
Speaking at the event, Kailash Sirohiya, chairman of the Kantipur Media Group, emphasised the need for media to adapt to rapid technological changes. He highlighted the growing threats of misinformation and disinformation, calling them dangers to democracy.
“Kantipur has a rich legacy and remains committed to fulfilling its journalistic duties,” Sirohiya said. “Over the past 32 years, we have worked tirelessly to strengthen Nepal’s journalism, standing firm amid multiple crises.”
Managing Director of the publication Sambhav Sirohiya presented the company’s visions and plans under the theme ‘Reimagining Kantipur’. He said Kantipur will embrace new technologies and continue to expand its overall reach without any compromise in journalistic values.

Also, Umesh Chauhan, Editor-in-chief of Kantipur daily, and Biswas Baral, Editor of The Kathmandu Post, discussed evolving newsroom dynamics. They too encouraged journalists to be in step with the ongoing technological revolution.
During the event, four journalists and four other employees were honoured for their excellence. Sangam Prasain from The Kathmandu Post and Kulchandra Neupane from Kantipur Daily each received the ‘Journalist of the Year’ award. Naresh Raut was recognised for layout design, while Kavre district correspondent Jyoti Shrestha was named ‘Regional Reporter of the Year’.
