Lawyers staged a protest by wearing black armbands to condemn the physical assault on senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi. The event was organised on Sunday at the Nepal Bar Association premises in Kathmandu.

The protest was called by the Supreme Court Bar Association, with its members participating to demand justice and security for legal professionals. Advocate Tripathi was allegedly attacked by Rastriya Swatantra Party supporters on Thursday while exiting the Kathmandu District Court after presenting arguments in a cooperative fraud case related to GB Rai, Rabi Lamichhane, and Chhabilal Joshi among others.

Speaking at the protest, NBA President Gopal Krishna Ghimire highlighted the vulnerability of legal professionals, stating that the attack within the court premises underscores the need to broaden the scope of legal protections.

Senior advocate Shambhu Thapa condemned the assault, describing it as deplorable. He urged political parties and their affiliates to take the incident seriously and ensure accountability.
