Foreign Minister Deuba pays tribute to former US President Carter

Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba has offered condolences to former US President Jimmy Carter.
On Friday, Deuba visited the US Embassy in Kathmandu to sign a condolence book dedicated to Carter, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, and paid tribute on behalf of the Nepali people, the government of Nepal, and herself.
According to the minister’s secretariat, she also conveyed her sympathies to Carter’s family.
Carter, who served as the 39th President of the United States and received the Nobel Peace Prize for his humanitarian work, died at his home in Plains, Georgia, on Sunday. He was 100.
In her message of condolence, Minister Deuba said, “Former President Carter was an exemplary figure in the fields of philanthropy, peace, and democracy. As the President of the US and the founder of the Carter Centre, his role in upholding human rights and democratic values has been widely praised.”
Recalling the visits of the late Carter to Nepal during the Constituent Assembly elections in 2007 and 2013, Minister Deuba said that the late Carter remained a true friend and well-wisher of Nepal, always supporting peace and democracy in the country.
