A book detailing the challenges faced by South Asian print media mainly after the COVID-19 pandemic was released amid a function in Kathmandu on Monday.
The book, titled ‘South Asian Print Media Crisis’ and co-edited by Ansgar Graw and Nishchal Nath Pandey, was published jointly by COSATT and Konrad Adeneuer Foundation.
Speaking at the event, Pandey shed light on the challenges faced by journalists in South Asia in the aftermath of the pandemic. He said that a large number of journalists from legacy media were bearing the brunt of the challenges posed by the pandemic.
Pandey also said that rampant spread of fake information on social media platforms had emerged as a serious challenge across the region.
Journalist Anil Giri of The Kathmandu Post said the book minutely examines the crisis faced by newspapers and journalists working in the media organisations following the pandemic.
The book includes articles from the contributors from Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
