The BYD International Balloon Festival is set to begin on 24 December 2024, aiming to boost Nepal’s adventure tourism and economy. Organised by Balloon Nepal Pvt. Ltd., the nine-day event will feature nearly two dozen balloons soaring over Pokhara’s scenic Pame area, covering a 3-kilometre stretch from Lauruk to Changkpur.
The festival will showcase participants from countries including the USA, UK, Japan, Brazil, and South Korea. Visitors can enjoy 40-minute flights offering panoramic views of Pokhara Valley and the majestic peaks of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, and Dhaulagiri. Sunrise and sunset views, nightly balloon glows, fireworks, balloon races, and camps will further enhance the experience.
Adding to the excitement, top Nepali artists like Deepak Bajracharya & Team, Raju Lama, Alina Chauhan, and local bands will perform daily. Actor Rajesh Hamal and actress Priyanka Karki will serve as brand ambassadors.
The festival is managed by Charismatic Digital Solutions with support from the Nepal Tourism Board, NRNA, and local authorities. “This event will revitalise tourism and showcase Pokhara on the global stage,” said organiser Sabin Maharjan. Balloon Nepal, established in 2015, has been promoting balloon tourism in Nepal since 2017.
