SAARC member states convene in Colombo for climate change talks

The fifth meeting of the SAARC Inter-Governmental Expert Group on Climate Change (IGEG-CC) was held on Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to the SAARC Secretariat in Kathmandu, the delegates from SAARC member states convened to evaluate progress on implementing the Thimphu Statement on Climate Change, originally adopted at the 16th SAARC Summit in 2010.
The meeting featured discussions on the background study of the Thimphu Statement and also shared a set of climate action best practices from across the region.
At the conclusion of the two-day meeting, the delegates adopted a series of recommendations to advance the full implementation of the Thimphu Statement, aiming to promote a greener and happier South Asia, the press release issued by the secretariat said.
