Three arrested in honey trap case in Kathmandu Valley
The suspects have been sent to District Police Office, Bhaktapur, for further investigation into the criminal offence, police say.Post Report
Police have arrested three individuals accused of being involved in a honey trap scheme. The suspects, aged 25 and 30, were apprehended in connection with an alleged blackmail operation targeting medical service providers in various places of Kathmandu Valley.
According to Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, a 25-year-old woman originally from Mai Municipality-1 in Ilam and currently residing in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-5 of Bhaktapur; a 30-year-old man from Bhulmu Rural Municipality-4, Kavre, living in Swayambhu, Kathmandu; and a 25-year-old woman also residing in Madhyapur Thimi, Bhaktapur have been nabbed for alleged honey-trapping schemes.
The third woman allegedly contacted a medical service provider online for wound dressing on November 21, lured them to a room, and claimed to have been assaulted. She reportedly threatened the provider with a rape accusation and extorted money through blackmail.
One of them was arrested on Tuesday while two others were nabbed on Wednesday.
The police seized a cheque for Rs75,000 drawn from an arrestee’s name from the NIC Asia Bank, and Rs20,500 in cash along with four mobile phones.
The suspects have been sent to the District Police Office, Bhaktapur, for further investigation into the criminal offence, the police said.
