Two electrocuted in separate incidents
A 26-year-old man in Kalikot and a seven-year-old girl in Taplejung die of electric shock.Post Report
A 26-year-old man was electrocuted while climbing an electric pole in ward 4 of Shubha Kalika Rural Municipality, Kalikot, on Monday morning.
The victim, Birendra Chaulagain, died on the spot, said Kalikot District Police Chief Tek Bahadur Rawat. A team led by Police Inspector Govinda Chaudhary is investigating the incident. Chaulagain is survived by his wife and two children.
In Taplejung, seven-year-old Munsiri Sherpa from ward 3 of Maiwakhola Rural Municipality died after coming into contact with a fallen live wire while returning home from school.
Sherpa succumbed while being rushed to the district hospital, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Rabi Rawal. Authorities said the wire had detached from a pole. A similar incident in the area two years ago claimed one life.
