Jhapa
A 45-year-old man was killed in an elephant attack in ward 3 of Damak Municipality, Jhapa district, on Sunday morning.
Min Bahadur Bhandari of Dipjyoti Tole in Damak died instantly while attempting to chase away the elephant, the District Police Office, Jhapa, said.
Chief of the District Forest Office Meghraj Rai said the elephant attacked Bhandari as he tried to drive it away from his neighbour Subin Bhattarai’s house, which the elephant was demolishing.
Incidents of human casualties from elephant attacks are frequent in Nepal, reflecting escalating human-wildlife conflicts in affected regions.
