President Ramchandra Paudel and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres held a brief conversation on climate change issues during their journey to Baku, Azerbaijan, for the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP-29) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The discussion took place onboard the flight from Doha, Qatar, to Baku. President Paudel’s Press Advisor, Kiran Pokhrel, reported that their conversation highlighted the shared global challenge of climate change. “Climate change is a problem we all share. We must unite to address it to protect our mountains, lands, and communities,” President Paudel remarked, as quoted by his advisor. Secretary-General Guterres joined President Paudel at his seat for the exchange.

President Paudel arrived in Baku today, leading a high-level Nepali delegation to the conference, which begins today and aims to tackle critical climate change issues affecting countries worldwide.
