Foreign Minister Rana calls for enhanced cooperation on AI at ACD forum

Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba on Wednesday called for stronger cooperation among Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) member states to harness artificial intelligence’s (AI) potential for shared prosperity.
Speaking at the ACD Business Forum in Doha, Qatar, Minister Rana highlighted AI’s role in shaping global financial architecture, governance, and key sectors like education, health, and security. She stressed the need to address data security, disinformation, and the digital divide.
According to the Nepali Embassy in Doha, Minister Rana also urged foreign investors to explore opportunities in Nepal across diverse sectors, including energy, tourism, manufacturing, agriculture, infrastructure development, education, health, and AI.
She highlighted Nepal’s conducive business environment and invited business delegations from ACD member states to capitalise on these investment prospects.
The forum, held under the theme “Artificial Intelligence and New Business Models,” was attended by the Qatari Minister of Trade and Industry Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, deputy prime ministers, ministers from ACD member states, and representatives from the private sector.
Rana, who is leading a Nepali delegation that includes Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal and other officials, is set to address the Third ACD Summit on Thursday. She also visited the Nepali Embassy in Doha to review its activities and instructed officials to ensure effective consular services for Nepali expatriates.
The delegation arrived in Doha on Tuesday afternoon.
