TIA urges passengers to avoid wearing traditional scarves and garlands during security checks
Scarves and garlands blamed for damaging screening equipment.Post Report
The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) has urged passengers to refrain from wearing khadas (traditional scarves) and garlands during security checks, citing damage to screening equipment.
According to Jagannath Niraula, general manager of the airport, the traditional scarves and garlands have caused damage to key equipment such as X-ray machines, conveyor belts, and escalators. “We have issued a notice requesting passengers not to wear khadas and garlands during security screening. They must be placed inside bags for the checks,” Niraula said.
He further said discarded scarves and garlands left by passengers throughout the airport have also affected its cleanliness. The airport clarified that passengers can still carry the items, provided they are stored in their luggage during security procedures.
