The government has transferred Gokarnamani Duwadi, secretary of the National Statistics Office, to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

A Cabinet meeting held on Thursday took the decision.

Around a dozen secretaries were in the race for the vacant position following the promotion of the former Home Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal to chief secretary.

Duwadi is expected to assume the role starting Sunday.

Duwadi has experience working in various ministries and the Election Commission.
