Chitwan
A 63-year-old man from ward 2 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City died of dengue on Saturday while undergoing treatment at Chitwan Medical College Teaching Hospital.
This is the first dengue-related death in Chitwan this fiscal year, according to Dinesh Rupakheti, chief of the Chitwan District Public Health Office.
Dengue cases have been steadily rising in the district. The district has reported 551 cases since mid-July. The health office said Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality, a hilly area, has reported the highest number of cases, with 283 infections, followed by Bharatpur Metropolitan City, with 158 cases.
With the risk of dengue spreading further in September and October, the health office has urged residents to remain vigilant.
