Police have detained six people for their alleged involvement in gang-raping a 16-year-old girl in Arjundhara of Jhapa district. Another suspect is at large.

According to Chandra Kuber Khapung, chief of Koshi Province police, the security personnel arrested four suspects on Saturday and two others on Sunday after the girl lodged a complaint on Saturday.

“The perpetrators took her to a local hotel in Arjundhara on the pretext of taking snacks and committed the crime,” the police quoted the victim.

A detailed investigation into the case is underway, the police said.
