The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Australia Foundation has been recognised as a charity organisation formally registered at the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).
After 11 months of effort, the NRNA Foundation successfully achieved deductible gift recipient (DGR) endorsement, a significant step towards expanding the organisation as a charity institution, a press release issued by the NRNA Australia said on Friday.
“This achievement marks a significant step forward in our commitment to philanthropy and community support,” it said. “The Foundation, established in 2021, focuses on charity, public benevolence, and institutionalising NRNA Australia’s charitable efforts.”
The charity of the association covers various communities including financially disadvantaged individuals, migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, people at risk of homelessness, individuals with disabilities and the general Australian community.
The association expressed its belief that the DGR endorsement would prove a significant event as it encourages more people to contribute to the organisation for charitable activities.
The endorsement will result in tax exemptions, reduced operational costs, enhanced credibility and trust, access to government and philanthropic grants, increased fundraising capacity, operational growth and sustainable development, the statement said.
