British envoy calls on Prime Minister Oli
The envoy expresses his satisfaction that issues related to transitional justice laws were nearing resolution.Post Report
Rob Fenn, the British ambassador to Nepal, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday.
The meeting, which took place at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar, Kathmandu, focused on the long-standing mutual relations and shared interests between Nepal and the United Kingdom.
According to the prime minister’s secretariat, Prime Minister Oli highlighted the government's priority on strengthening Nepal's federalism and democracy, increasing youth participation in development and policy making, and implementing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Ambassador Fenn expressed his satisfaction that the issues related to transitional justice laws were nearing resolution based on political consensus.
He assured that the UK would continue its support for Nepal in its endeavours for development, good governance, and the strengthening of federalism.
The ambassador also pledged help to export Nepali goods to the United Kingdom.
Nepal established its diplomatic relations with the UK in 1816. The UK is the first country in the world with which Nepal established diplomatic relations. Also, it is the first country in the world which established its embassy in Kathmandu.
