Congress lawmakers obstruct proceedings of House of Representatives and National Assembly, demanding parliamentary probe against DPM Lamichhane.Post Report
The meetings of both Houses—the House of Representatives and the National Assembly—have been adjourned until Thursday following obstruction from the Nepali Congress.
Congress lawmakers obstructed the proceedings, demanding the formation of a parliamentary committee to probe against Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane in alleged cooperative fraud.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal was scheduled to table copies of policies and programmes presented by President Ramchandra Paudel at the joint session of both Houses. The Speaker and National Assembly chair were also scheduled to table a motion thanking the President. There is a customary practice of thanking the President for presenting the government’s policies and programmes.
However, following the obstruction, the upper house meeting was adjourned until 1:15pm on Thursday and the lower house until 11am on the same day.
The main opposition has been obstructing the budget session of the parliament since the first day of the session. However, it allowed the President to table policies and programmes.
