The second session of the Global Talk Series focused on water conservation for sustainable and climate-friendly agriculture concluded on Friday.
The event, held at the Hyatt Place in Soalteemode, featured speeches from Satyajit Bhatkal, CEO of Paani Foundation; Bibhuti Ojha, Associate Professor and Program Coordinator at the National Engineering College; and water historian Ajaya Dixit.
Sharing his experience, Bhatakal highlighted that no supply-side solution would be lasting without demand management of water.
“From a knowledge perspective, humans thought they mastered irrigation,” Dixit said at the event, “however, in the process, they have gravely neglected indigenous communities.”
The session was a dynamic exploration of the overlap between agriculture, technology and sustainability.
“It was organised with the aim of deepening participants’ understanding of the need for proper management of water resources for sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture,” the organisers said.
