The meeting of the House of Representatives has been adjourned until Sunday after opposition parties including the Nepali Congress and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party obstructed the House proceedings, calling for a parliamentary probe against Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.
The opposition lawmakers stood from their seats demanding resignation of Minister Rabi Lamichhane and formation of a parliamentary investigation committee to probe his involvement in the cooperative scam.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire then called the attention of the government and the bodies concerned on the topics raised by the opposition lawmakers and urged them to cooperate in conducting the House meeting.
The Speaker adjourned the meeting after the opposition lawmakers refused to allow the proceedings to proceed.
The House meeting was obstructed on Tuesday as well after the ruling and opposition parties differed over the formation of a parliamentary panel.
Lamichhane, who is accused of misusing cooperative funds worth millions of rupees, has been denying the allegations.
