The CPN-UML, the largest party in the ruling coalition, on Friday asked other political parties to join the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government.
A secretariat meeting of the party held at its headquarters in Chyasal concluded that the new power equation presents an opportunity to address the nation’s pressing issues and made an appeal to other parties to lend their support to the endeavour.
The meeting also underscored the importance of ensuring that the new alliance yields tangible results by transforming public despair into optimism, advancing national interests and pride and expediting initiatives for development and prosperity, said Shankar Pokharel, general secretary of the party.
Pokharel said the UML believes that the new power equation will be fruitful in safeguarding the country’s independence, self-respect and nationalism and ensure prosperity and social justice.
He remarked that the UML was also determined to offer maximum support on behalf of the party to facilitate the government in attaining its objectives.
A current ruling coalition comprises five parties—UML, CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party, Janata Samajbadi Party and CPN (Unified Socialist).
Janata Samajbadi Party is yet to send ministers to the Dahal-led new Cabinet.
