Indian, Chinese envoys call on Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha

Ambassadors of India and China on Thursday called on newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha at the ministry.
Shrestha, who served as the home minister until Sunday, assumed office as the foreign minister on Wednesday.
Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava conveyed the greetings of Shrestha’s Indian counterpart S Jaishankar on his new roles as the deputy prime minister and minister for foreign affairs, said the foreign ministry.
Matters relating to further strengthening Nepal-India relations and advancing mutually beneficial cooperation were discussed.
Likewise, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song also called on Minister Shrestha later in the afternoon and congratulated him on his new role.
Various matters relating to Nepal-China relations and cooperation were discussed during the meeting, the ministry said.
