A mutilated body of an 18-year-old man, who has been identified as a resident of Magapauwa in ward 4 of Shailung Rural Municipality, was found in Katakuti in ward 5 of the municipality on Monday.
The man had been missing since December 25. According to Police Inspector Jeevan Shrestha of the District Police Office, the body had been brutally mutilated, with the head, left hand, and fingers severed, along with severe injuries.
Police, citing a preliminary investigation, said the man was killed some four or five days ago.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem, and a woman and a man were detained for questioning on Tuesday, said Shrestha.
