Padma Prasad Pandey, secretary of the House of Representatives, has been recommended for the post of Federal Parliament General Secretary.

Speaker of the House of Representatives Dev Raj Ghimire and National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina recommended lower house Secretary Pandey for the post following the resignation of General Secretary Dr Bharat Raj Gautam.

Gautam had submitted his resignation to President Ramchandra Paudel on Sunday.

“Pandey has been recommended for the position of the general secretary as per Article 106 of the Constitution following the joint recommendation of the Speaker of the lower house and the Chairman of the upper house,” reads the press note issued by Shekhar Adhikari, press advisor to the Speaker. “General Secretary Bharat Raj Gautam had tendered his resignation before the President on Sunday citing personal reasons.”
