A photo book by photojournalist Keshab Raj Thoker ‘Life in Pandemic: Kathmandu during Covid-19’ has hit the book shelves.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire unveiled the book at a function in Kathmandu on Wednesday. While unveiling the book, Speaker Ghimire said the archive of the Covid period is itself significant.
“The photographer has brought to life the period of suffering,” said Ghimire.
Dr Sher Bahadur Pun, a senior virologist, said photos in the book reminded him of the old days.
“I couldn’t control my tears while going through the book. I used to get frequent calls during that time. People were brought dead on ambulances. It was a troublesome time,” said Pun.
Photojournalist Chandra Shekhar Karki said he was happy to see that the book has documented the moments of the pandemic.
Balkrishna Basnet, chairman of Press Council Nepal, said the book could be useful as a document and curriculum.
Former president of the Photojournalist Club Bikash Karki said Thoker is a photography warrior.
Amrit Yonjan of Mhendo Trust, the book’s publisher, said that the book reflects the Covid period.
The 125-page book is priced at Rs1,000.
