Kantipur journo Panday awarded in US
Panday honoured for his national and international contributions through Nepali journalism.Post Report
Jagdishor Panday, a journalist associated with Kantipur Daily, the Post’s sister publication, has been honoured with an award in New Jersey, the United States.
Panday, who has been reporting for media outlets for over 12 years, was awarded by Joyce E. Watterman, the council president of the Office of the City Council City of Jersey City, for his national and international contributions through Nepali journalism.
The award was presented on Friday during the 6th Annual Red Saree Event organised by Hudson Speaks Against Sexual Violence (HSASV).
The award was handed over by Cinthiya Vazquez, interim director, the Department of Health and Human Service in the City of Jersey and Senior Programme Coordinator of the HSASV Bishnu Maya Pariyar on behalf of Council President Watterman.
The award certificate introduced Pandey as a foreign affairs, geo-political, and defence reporter who has been active in journalism for the last 12 years and has contributed immensely to quality journalism.
“His investigative reporting on foreign affairs including UN peacekeeping missions, Covid pandemic, and national security issues have brought profound change to how readers consumed news in times of nation’s despair and dilemma,” reads the certificate.
Moreover, Panday also contributed as a mentor and jury for the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA-Asia)’s Mentorship Programme in 2023, the certificate reads.
Panday is the recipient of the prestigious Raham Al-Farra (RAF) Memorial Journalism Fellowship by the United Nations. He was selected as one of the 19 and 12 fellows in 2021 and 2023 respectively for the RAF programme.
