Police arrested three people with 4 kg of illegal gold from Jamune in ward 3 of Bigu Rural Municipality on Wednesday night.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Dipak Khadka of the District Police Office, the arrest was made after getting an anonymous tip that a large amount of gold was being smuggled from China to Nepal.

The arrest was made by the police officers of the Singti Area Office at around 10 pm.

“The preliminary investigation by police has revealed that the gold was smuggled through the Lapchi border, which is still closed by China. Further investigation into the case is going on,” said Khadka.
