Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Tuesday said he will discuss with the Chinese side on opening a new border point during his visit to the northern neighbour.
The prime minister said so during a question-answer session in Parliament after Ain Bahadur Shahi, a lawmaker from Mugu, asked the prime minister if discussions would be held on opening the Nara Lagna border point.
“Talks will be held on opening the new border point for trade. It is almost certain that the border point will be on the agenda,” said Dahal in response.
Prime Minister Dahal said that the government will give priority to the development of tourist areas including Rara.
Dahal is scheduled to visit China straight from New York on September 22 after addressing the 78th session of the United Nations general assembly.
The prime minister is scheduled to address the UN general assembly on September 21, but before that, Dahal and Nepali delegations will participate in various meetings including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Summit on September 18 and 19 in the capacity of being the current chair of the least developed countries.
On a separate note, the prime minister said that is regularly taking progress reports on projects of national pride.
In response to a question by UML lawmaker Rishikesh Pokharel, Prime Minister Dahal said that the necessary budget has been allocated for the timely completion of projects of national pride and the government has regularly paid attention to their implementation.
Prime Minister Dahal claimed that two of the projects of national pride have been completed and the work progress of 14 has reached 80 percent.
“In addition to allocating sufficient budget to complete the projects of national pride on time, regular monitoring is also being done,” he said. “I have been taking information about the progress of the work and giving necessary instructions.”
