The meeting of the House of Representatives resumed on Wednesday after a month-long obstruction by the CPN-UML.
The main opposition CPN-UML had been obstructing parliament proceedings for nearly a month demanding the formation of a probe panel to investigate the recent gold smuggling cases.
Soon after the House meeting started on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka informed the House of the agreement reached among the national political parties earlier in the day.
During the meeting called by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal in Singha Durbar, leaders of seven national political parties represented in the House of Representatives reached a two-point agreement to form a commission to investigate the recent gold smuggling cases on September 22 and initiate the inquiry immediately thereafter.
