Prime Minister Dahal saddened by Uttarakhand landslide
Says diplomatic initiatives have been taken to rescue missing Nepalis at the earliest.Post Report
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has expressed his sadness over a landslide in the Indian state of Uttarakhand that left 19 people including 13 Nepalis missing.
The prime minister’s secretariat said on Saturday evening that Prime Minister Dahal has offered heartfelt tributes to the deceased and his deepest condolences to the bereaved families.
The prime minister says diplomatic initiatives have been taken to rescue the missing citizens as soon as possible, according to his secretariat.
At least 19 people have gone missing after a landslide washed away three hotels in Gaurikund, a pilgrimage site that serves as a basecamp for a trek to Kedarnath Temple on Thursday night.
Rescuers have so far pulled three bodies including two Nepalis from the debris
Earlier today, Foreign Minister NP Saud held a telephone conversation with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and urged him for a speedy search and rescue.
Chief Minister Dhami told Foreign Minister Saud that security personnel and other agencies have been deployed to search for the missing persons, according to the foreign minister’s secretariat.
