The meeting of the Constitutional Council held to recommend the name of the next Chief Justice, has ended inconclusively.
The meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar on Tuesday with the only agenda of recommending the name of the Chief Justice could not come to a decision after council members raised demands for appointments to vacant positions of other Constitutional Commissions.
Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, a member of the council and Chairman of the National Assembly, informed that the meeting did not take any decision on recommending the name of Chief Justice.
“No decision was made today. The next meeting of the council will be held on August 3 at 5 pm,” said Timilsina.
Timilsina said that although there was a discussion on the agenda to recommend the name of the Chief Justice, the issue of recommending the appointment to other vacant constitutional posts also entered during the meeting leading to the deferral of the meeting.
